"Benny Hill - International Funnyman" - Open to the public - Brentwood Historical Society

  • Brentwood Public Library 34 Second Avenue Brentwood, NY, 11717 United States (map)

The first Long Island lecture to discuss the legendary Benny Hill will be presented for the Bayshore Historical Society! The saucy and world famous English comedian that we remember from television began as a shy man with a stage act that needed much work. Afraid of hostile audiences, he turned to television and eventually became a world famous clown who was loved by millions in one hundred forty countries! But what was he like when not entertaining? Who was that little Irish fellow that had his head repeatedly tapped by Benny? Did Benny ever marry? Did he spend his fortune on extravagances? Why was his immensely popular show cancelled? Find out in this presentation and then watch some of his most hilarious sketches while you laugh yourself silly! He was an expert at all types of comedy - farce, physical, verbal and puns and the crowd response to this presentation shows that Benny still entertains us today! Benny Hill music, an autograph collection and a memorabilia and book display are included in this study of the world’s most famous modern clown. This presentation will take place at the Brentwood Public Library and is open to the general public. Come to meeting, get acquainted with the Historical Society and then view the lecture. The starting time may be moved back to 3 PM, so check back soon for the starting time. For more information, please contact the Brentwood Historical Society at president@brentwoodhis.org
