Thgis lecture has been specially prepared for Hutton House attendees! Get in the holiday mood with this nostalgic and fun filled holiday program. Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy are justly considered the world’s foremost and funniest “double act” in the history of film. In this presentation, you will learn the backgrounds of “The Boys” and the production of their funniest silent “short” film, “Big Business”. With the complete screening of this film, you will see Laurel and Hardy try to sell a Christmas tree to James Finlayson in this “reciprocal destruction” classic. The second screening will be the classic “Jack Benny Goes Christmas Shopping” as Jack drives Mel Blanc, and everyone else, crazy! Before viewing that program, you will learn about Jack’s life, his show business career and meet his supporting players that appear in the show. This program is a prime example of why Jack remained on television for more than twenty years and has an ending that would NEVER be filmed today! The presentation includes 1940’s holiday music that will accompany a book, autograph and memorabilia display and brings a new meaning to the term “holiday cheer”.
