  • Frick Estate Lectures at the Nassau County Mueseum of Art 1 Museum Drive Roslyn, NY, 11576 United States (map)

Co-written by Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder and directed by Mel Brooks, this film is as funny and fresh today as when we laughed at it in 1974! This Power Point presentation will take you from the early development of the film to its completion. Along the way, you will discover the unconventional way the film was cast, how Mel and Gene wrote the story and screenplay, why it was filmed in black and white, the scene that almost caused a huge fight between the authors and the many behind the scenes stories and crackups. This was the favorite of film of Gene Wilder and Mel considers it his finest work. After the presentation, attendees will screen selected film highlights. Attendees will listen to the film’s soundtrack as they view a memorabilia, book and autograph display before the program. So get in the Halloween spirit with lots a laughs!

You can register by simply using the website (www.thefrickestatelectures.org) or calling the lecture office at 516-415-1101 and leaving a message – they will get right back to you and register you by credit card.  Checks are also accepted but may be delayed at their P.O. Box in Greenvale, so if you do use the postal mail, either email admin@thefrickestatelectures.org or call their phone number to let them know you would like to attend. This is a very popular topic so make your reservation early!
